Training and Coaching
Conestoga College's Volunteer Management Certificate Program is the only one in Canada with a national Volunteer Management Professionals of Canada (VMPC) partnership and has been running since 1984. The courses align with the accepted professional and program standards established by the VMPC, Volunteer Canada and the National Occupational Standards. This program provides the knowledge, resources and tools to be effective, creative and inspiring managers of volunteers. The skills and strategies acquired provide the foundation for supervisory or leadership roles in various professional sectors such as not-for-profit or community organizations, and hospitals and municipalities. (VIS), established in 1972, insures millions of volunteers who provide their time and skills to nonprofit organizations and governmental entities throughout the United States. The insurance program -- the only one of its kind -- protects volunteers in the event they are injured, accidentally injure someone else or damage someone's property, or are at fault in a vehicle accident while on volunteer assignments. In partnership between Tennessee CVAs and the Friends of Volunteer Tennessee, volunteer engagement professionals in Tennessee can apply for scholarship funds to assist in paying for the CVA exam. This scholarship fund was developed to support people who work in Tennessee that want to achieve this professional milestone. We will support you not only financially, but also in preparation for you taking the exam. Our selection committee will review all applications and determine recipients based on a variety of factors. The number of TN CVA Scholarships available is determined based on funds available. The TN CVA Scholarship Fund offers exam fee reimbursement for first time test takers only, regardless of the outcome of your exam.
